Jumping Up

by Joan Ronalder

For biting and jumping, the solution is to totally ignore her when she does that behavior. It’s sometimes easier said than done. Only look at her or touch her when she is sitting. Literally fold your arms over your chest and look away when she bites or jumps. As soon as her feet and/or bottom is on the ground, praise her calmly and pet. She will probably promptly jump up again. Do exactly the same thing. Have your family suitably cushion themselves, and do the same treatment. It is amazing how fast it works. We have one very strong one in this litter, and I did that treatment this morning. In less than 5 minutes she was scooting around to get in front of me and still remain in a sitting position. No more jumping.
